I didn’t expect something this soon, so… who knows. But the developer is really an impressive fucking guy. Someone mentioned doing the overlapping alpha operation 3 times for R, G and B, this would be the same principle but add R and M. 50 Free Alpha Brushes for use in: Zbrush, 3D Coat, Mudbox, Photoshop, Modo, Quixel Suite (DDO/NDO), Substance Painter and more. I mean I’m dreaming obviously, these are high level features and I think the UVs are more pressing but it seems like the skeleton code is already there. The brushes are organised by type (Stroke, Drag, clothing, terrain, technological, skin, natural. Artist Michael Dunnam has released 125 free custom ZBrush brushes created for use in his sculpting work. Zbrush users know what I’m talking about, but I actually think there is even greater potential for nomad considering it already supports PBR, we could add individual brush alphas for albedo, roughness and metalness maps and paint them and sculpt/displacement simultaneously a la Mari or mudbox. The full collection of 125 Drag and Stroke brushes can be downloaded for free from his website, and has now be converted for use in 3D-Coat. The ability to drag out an alpha with scales and have the color of those scales applied simultaneously, or apply a RGB skin texture with the bumps and wrinkles matching the colors perfectly. And yes the ability to paint RGB colors and sculpt simultaneously would be (and is, already in other softwares) extremely powerful. Whoever mentioned spotlight in Zbrush that is exactly what I was thinking about. All it has to do is give you a warning, if it detects UVs and you activate any of the remesh / dynamic tessellation features that it will be doing so destructively. That would go a long way towards quality of life improvements. Unless there is an open source implementation of something as good as Zbrush’s UV master, I would much rather just have the ability to handle my UVs in another application and reimport the UVed version back into nomad. No sense adding some hacky tri-planar auto unwrap like they have in forger, that is less than a half measure… hardly even usable and far from good results. Only need to be able to keep my old pre-existing UVs across the whole workflow and this software is legitimately pipeline ready. ![]() And it creates dotted lines in the middle of the brush stroke. You’re right, this is a game changer. Here I tried to fix the incorrect alpha of the default brush mode by adjusting the Focal Shift, but changing the Focal Shift doesn't fix anything, it blurs the whole alpha texture, not just the edges. The alpha is not supposed to have sharp edges like this.ģ.Default brush mode, Sharp Shape (Old Style): OFF, ( Focal Shift -65%) This brush stroke uses the same alpha as 1. This makes it impossible to draw dots with the setting enabled.Ģ.Default brush mode, Sharp Shape (Old Style): OFF, ( Focal Shift 0%) 3D coat is full of functionality and is well-suited to create a 3D configurator in real time. ![]() obj files, extracting the view-based height map from the model. Brush Alphas can also be constructed from 3D. These are default or custom-made images which affect both the depth of the Brush application and the shape of the bristles, as well. ![]() If that issue would get fixed, it would behave correctly for texture painting purposes.Īnother issue, but a minor one is that when the "Sharp Shape (Old Style)" setting is enabled, the brush doesn't draw anything if you just click on the object, you have to click & then drag to get anything to appear. 3DCoat’s Brushes can be given a profile by means of the Brush Alpha Panel. These settings produce the correct alpha but it has the self intersecting issue shown in the first screenshot. This is what the alpha/ brush stroke should look like because the alpha is supposed to have very smooth edges. Sharp Shape (Old Style): ON, ( Focal shift 0%) Sculpting detailed lips by hand is difficult and time consuming. I couldn't fit any text on the second screenshot so I'll write what's wrong with it here: Brushes - Lips Detail Alpha Pack (zbrush, blender, 3dcoat, substance), USD 6.99. I attached some screenshots of my tests with the new version below. What exactly was changed? There isn't anything mentioned about the issue in the release notes either. I tested all new versions, even the beta 4.8.34 and I didn't see any difference in the brush behaviour.
